Quick summary
- We do not sell your data. Ever.
- ArcLight Pro is fully on-device. It collects nothing, transmits nothing, and has no servers behind it.
- On the website we collect only what you choose to send us through the contact form, plus minimal server logs needed to keep the site online.
- We use no advertising trackers, no behavioral profiling, and no third-party analytics.
Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy is published by Shaun Reiland, a sole proprietor doing business as Cobaltmaize ("Cobaltmaize," "we," "us," or "our"). It explains how we handle information in connection with:
- Our websites at cobaltmaize.com and cobaltmaize.org, and
- The ArcLight Pro application for macOS and iOS distributed through the Apple App Store.
Together, these are the "Services." If you use any of them you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
How the website handles information
Information you give us
When you use the contact form, send us email, or place a private inquiry on an artwork, we receive the information you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We use that information solely to respond to you and to deliver any work product you have engaged us for.
Information we collect automatically
Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard server logs containing IP addresses, request paths, timestamps, browser user-agent strings, and HTTP status codes. These logs are kept for a short period for security, debugging, and abuse prevention. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not shared with advertisers.
How long we keep it
Contact-form messages are retained for as long as the inquiry remains active and for a reasonable follow-up period afterward. Server logs are typically rotated within thirty days. You may ask us to delete any message you have sent us at any time using the contact information below.
How ArcLight Pro handles information
ArcLight Pro does not collect any personal information.
The app runs entirely on your device. It has no account system, no login, no telemetry, no analytics SDKs, and no ad networks. It does not phone home. We operate no server that receives data from ArcLight Pro.
On-device data
Any preferences, files, or content you create or import while using ArcLight Pro stay on your device, in the standard application sandbox provided by macOS and iOS. They may be backed up by Apple as part of your iCloud or Time Machine backup if you have those features enabled, but that backup goes only between your device and your own Apple account — not to us.
Apple-provided diagnostics
If your device has crashed and you have opted in to share diagnostics with developers in your Apple settings, Apple may forward an anonymized crash report to us so we can fix bugs. This is governed by Apple's privacy controls, not ours, and the report does not contain anything we can use to identify you.
Permissions the app may request
ArcLight Pro may ask for access to specific system features (for example, files you choose to open). These permissions are used only for the feature you are actively using, on your device, and the data never leaves your device through us.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website uses a small number of strictly functional cookies — for example, to remember which language you selected with the language switcher. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser.
Third parties
We rely on a small set of third-party providers to keep the Services running:
- Network Solutions — web hosting for cobaltmaize.com and cobaltmaize.org.
- Google Fonts — serves a webfont for typography on the website. Google may log the IP address making the font request. We do not embed any Google analytics or advertising scripts.
- Apple — distributes ArcLight Pro through the App Store and provides crash and review services. Apple's own privacy practices apply to your App Store account and are described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
When you click an external link from our site or footer (for example, to a partner organization on the Donate for Ukraine page) you leave our control and the destination site's privacy policy applies. We have no insight into and no control over those sites.
Children
Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (European Economic Area, United Kingdom), the CCPA / CPRA (California), or other state privacy laws to:
- Confirm whether we hold information about you and obtain a copy.
- Correct information that is inaccurate.
- Delete information you previously sent us, subject to limited legal exceptions.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise these rights, email us at the address below. Because we collect very little to begin with, most requests can be handled in a single reply. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Security
No system is perfectly secure, but we use HTTPS across the website, follow current WordPress security practices, and limit who can access the few records we do hold. If we ever experience a breach affecting your information, we will notify affected parties as required by law.
International transfers
Our hosting and email infrastructure is located in the United States. If you contact us from outside the United States, you understand that the information you provide will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
When we make material changes to this policy we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, post a notice on the website. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated policy.
